Notes and News March 14

The Great Giveaway

The Gospel of St. John says that love comes from God.  The person who loves knows God.  Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Since the earliest days of the Church love has been the heart of Christian practices. Jesus said that we must love our neighbor as ourselves and that what ever we do to the least of our brothers and sisters, we do to him.

Guided by the Holy Spirit, Jesus' disciples put aside self-interest and personal gain in order to continue loving and giving as he would have them do.  For God, loving is giving.  Just look at how much He loved.  Just look at how much He gave.

It might seem strange, but love can only be kept if it's given away.

Easter is April 4.  We will hold our usual service at 9:30.  We will not hold the Saturday service on April 3.

Altar Flowers – In praise and thanksgiving to God, the chancel flowers are given by Laura Smith and also by David and Kathy  Hendricks on the occasion of their 8th Anniversary. We thank them for their kindness.

Take a Trip

Today in our Bible Adventures, Pastor shares a presentation on parables and particularly three parables of the lost in Luke 15.  Next week we will look closely at the time Jesus is anointed in Luke 7:36-50.

Animals Tell the Story

In our services this Wednesday we will hear of the hen who will tell us of a grieving Savior.

Our theme will continue throughout the Lenten season and conclude on our celebration of Easter.  We will hear of lessons from the lamb, rooster, and fish.

Lilies

We again offer member the opportunity to provide lilies for our Easter service.  You may donate a lily and then take it with you following our service.  We start taking orders today.  Envelopes are available at the ushers station in the rear of the sanctuary.

Hungry?

We continue to hold soup suppers before our evening Lenten services.  Please check out the sign-up sheets (to eat and to help).  We need someone to host our supper on March 24.  Serving begins each Wednesday at 5:30.  All are welcome.
