Someone Else

A man decided to get rid of a dog he owned. When he drove to the city he stopped near the out-skirts, put his pet out, and drove away.

Late that night, he headed home. As he neared the edge of the city, he saw his dog sitting just where he had left him. As the car approached , the dog lifted his ears, stood up, and wagged his tail. The man drove on past.

At home he confessed to his wife that his conscience was hurting him; yet he did nothing about it.

This true story is a realistic illustration of spiritual errors made by God's children when they hope that someone else will assume their responsibility. The man had hoped that someone else would take the dog and look after it. Christians often think, "Oh, someone else will do it."

The work of Christ is not something that someone else performs or funds. It is an effort we all need to support. It is everyone's responsibility.

Take a Trip

Today in our Bible Adventures, we investigate the healing ministry of Jesus in Luke 4:31-44.  Pastor will provide an overview of miracles recorded for us in the Bible.  Next Sunday we look closely at the disciples of Jesus.  Pastor will review who they were and what we know about them.

Help for Haiti

The Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod responds to crises at various times with financial sup-port.  This is going on now for those struggling in Haiti.

While some may have already responded to efforts to help Haitians we would like to offer an opportunity to those who still de-sire to do so.  This is an effort that takes place by our church body.  The church headquarters in St. Louis have staff in place to assist so that the gifts can go to relief and not administration.

We share with you envelopes that can be used for this effort.  If you did not receive an envelope last week, we have additional ones available from our ushers.  We will get these funds to where they are needed as soon as possible.

You are invited to include your name or envelope number so that we can record your gift for your records.

If you have any questions, please contact our church office.
