Notes and News February 21

You Are Somebody

Use your talents.  If you think you are a nobody, you are wrong.  The sustaining truth for those who play roles in the shadows is a simple and important one, namely: In the economy of God, Nature’s nobodies are somebodies.

The question is now how well do you rate on the economic or status scale, but rather, how well do you use the talents and powers that are yours?  Most of the work of the world is done by men and women in the shadows, by the nameless heroes of everyday life.

Animals Tell the Story

The animals (of all things!) mentioned near or during the Passion of our Lord, serve as windows into Jesus’ life, teaching, and saving work.  Each week during our Lenten season we will focus on an animal and the lesson it has to share.

In our services this Wednesday we will hear of the donkey who will tell us of a peaceful Savior.

Our theme will continue throughout the Lenten season and conclude on our celebration of Easter.

Today in our Bible Adventures, Pastor shares a presentation on the Temptation of our Lord as recorded in Luke 4:1-13. Next Sunday we focus on the healing of ten men who have leprosy in Luke 17:11-19.

Hungry?

We again hold soup suppers before our evening Lenten services.  Please check out the sign-up sheets (to eat and to help).  Serving begins each Wednesday at 5:30.  All are welcome.

Altar Flowers – In praise and thanksgiving to God, the chancel flowers are given by the Kinslowe’s in honor of their Anniversary and also by Andy & Dawn Anderson & Dallas Cooper in memory of Emmett Stout’s Birthday. We thank them for their kindness.
