Notes and News April 18

What Have You Done?

One day we will stand before God and be held accountable for what we have done with the talents the Lord has given us. God created us, and everything we have is from Him. He gives different talents and differing degrees of talent to each of us. His intention is that they be used for the advance of the kingdom.

We sometimes find God's plan difficult to understand and even harder to live out. We tend to lord it over those with lesser talent, to be jealous of those who seemingly have more, or to use the talents we have for our own advancement.

No matter how we have been endowed with talents, we all have the opportunity to produce according to the abilities given us. Each person who yields to the work of God and allows the Holy Spirit to produce the necessary transformation, can yield a rich harvest of abundance for the kingdom. This harvest is not accomplished by our self-effort or will power, but by the power of God in us. Unless we allow God to work in us, all we can achieve on our own is activity without achievement and action without life.

Altar Flowers – In praise and thanksgiving to God, the chancel flowers are given by Bob & Laurie Nelson in honor of their grandson Andrew and also by Marion & Joe Flory in memory of their loved ones. We thank them for their kindness.
